I cry (for England)
by Raymond Holt
I cry for the public,
Who believed the politicians.
When they spoke of honest justice,
But used a different definition.
I cry for young people,
That cannot find work.
Whose future and security,
Have fallen in the dirt.
I cry for the elderly,
Alone, cold and still.
Afraid to switch the heating on,
Worried about the bill.
I cry for Environmental protesters,
When their principles are right.
As the duty Government Minister
Explains that black is white.
But most of all God,
I’m crying just for me.
Because law and order I used to know,
Disappeared in seventy three.
