Just watching the world go by
by Raymond Holt
Now I’m sitting here in the gutter
And I can’t think of any reason why
It’s raining and I’m lost in my mind
Just watching the world go by.
Some folk look down their noses at me
They can see I’m an ordinary guy
But they look without looking, when looking at me
Just watching the world go by.
But I’ve been around the block a couple of times
And I’ve seen all I wanted to see
And I’ve done all the things that I wanted to do
And I believe in God and me.
And life’s problems are sometimes traumatic
And sometimes we all want to cry
But we live in a world of strange faces
Just watching the world go by.
And now the sun is laughing at me
And a rainbow has lit up the sky
But I’m on the inside, still looking out
Just watching the world go by.
