Pianist Mengyang Pan will perform Liszt Harmonies, Debussy Images and Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue in the fifth concert of the 2018 chamber music season in the intimate Jack Wagg Auditorium at Cranleigh Arts Centre.
This is a great coup for our local arts centre and follows the inspiring performances on piano earlier this year by Ashley Fripp and Cristian Sandrin. Ewhurst resident Irene said after the March concert “I love going to Cranleigh Arts Centre because it is the nearest thing I have to Covent Garden.”
Critics have described Mengyang Pan’s playing as “So fine that time seemed to stand still. Her shading, use of tone colour, and the most brilliantly clear and precise placing of the music in the highest register was a real joy to hear”.
Chinese born British pianist Mengyang Pan regularly performs in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the UK such as the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, The National Gallery, St John’s Smith Square, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and for UNESCO in Paris.
She has performed in concerto under Vladimir Ashkenazy and in 2009 was the runner up at the Leeds International piano competition. Upon graduating from the Royal College of Music, HRH Prince Charles presented her with one of the College’s most prestigious awards, the Tagore Gold Medal.
