Alan Bennett’s sharp and hilarious new play is ‘just what the doctor ordered’ (Daily Telegraph). Filmed live at London’s Bridge Theatre, don’t miss this ‘rousing chorus line for the NHS’ (Observer) in your local arts centre. The Beth, an old fashioned cradle-to-grave hospital serving a town on the edge of the Pennines, is threatened with closure as part of an efficiency drive. A documentary crew, eager to capture its fight for survival, follows the daily struggle to find beds on the Dusty Springfield Geriatric Ward, and the triumphs of the old people’s choir. Spoken Word: Remembrance Day Spoken Word Night Friday 16 November, 7.30pm
Cranleigh Writers Group and the 1000 Monkeys celebrate 100 years since the end of WW1. The theme’s ‘Remembrance’ and you’re invited to share your own poem, read one of your favourites or sit back and enjoy the magic of spoken word. The winning piece from our Creative Writing Competition will be shared, alongside readings from local published poets, examples of the nation’s favourite WWI poetry and live performances of music composed during the war. Exhibition: All Cranleigh’s Schools Arts Exhibition Tuesday 6 to 17 November, 10am – 4.30pm
Cranleigh’s schools show off their creative talent in a brilliant display of artwork. The Arts Society Cranleigh and Cranleigh Arts Centre collaborate to curate this third annual exhibition of paintings, 3D work and photography by some of the most gifted local young artists. Free Entry

Open Competition: A Splash of Colour Tuesday 20 November to Saturday 15 December, 10am to 4pm
Artists working in a variety of traditional media have submitted work exploring the theme `A Splash of Colour`. The exhibition will run for four weeks, with many artworks available for sale. The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artworks, and an overall winner will be selected by an independent panel of arts professionals. Free Entry
