We’re hosting our annual Carnival and Fun Day on the Common again this year, with loads of fantastic shows and stalls to entertain the young and old in a relaxing day at the heart of the village. Its’s held on the High Street, from the war memorial along to the cricket pitch, so many of you can just walk in.
“We organise the Carnival as a big thank you to Cranleigh” says Trevor Dale, Cranleigh Lions President, “and we hope that this year, our 50th Anniversary, will be really special”.
Amongst the many attractions will be a slapstick comedy act, a mobile educational farm, Bensons fun fair with children’s rides and several Samba bands providing the rhythm of the day.
Alongside this there will be a parade gathering at St James Place at 12:00 and processing down the High Street to the Common at 12:30. The best three contributors will win £250, £100 and £50 respectively. Organisations and local groups are welcomed, indeed encouraged, to join this, the highlight of the day. Details of how to join are on the Lions website – cranleighlions.org.
Last year through our many events, we raised and distributed over £110,000 to support the less fortunate in our community and all the money raised makes a difference to someone’s life. Further, the club’s running costs are paid for by the members themselves, so if you give us a pound, every penny is spent on those in need.
We hope you’ll come along and have some fun; see you there!
