Earlier this year we were all moved by David Attenborough’s programme, Blue Planet 2, which highlighted the problem of plastic pollution that is now affecting all of the world’s oceans.
This amazing broadcast depicted the extremely concerning damage done to marine ecosystems by plastics thrown into the sea and entering the food chains. As a result of public pressure, supermarkets and shops are slowly reducing their use of plastic packaging.
Inspired by Blue Planet II, on 17 November, Cranleigh Rotarians Gill Leslie and Teresa Golden installed a Christmas tree which carries only plastic-free decorations in the foyer of the Arts Centre. Do come along and be inspired to do your bit to rid the world of unrecyclable plastics.
Many thanks to Santa Fir for providing the tree and Cranleigh Arts Centre for agreeing to use of the foyer.
