The Ewhurst Players will be presenting a Regional Premiere of A Bunch of Amateurs at the Village Hall Ewhurst on May 16th to 19th. Ian Hislop of Not the Nine O’clock News fame has adapted the script from the very popular film starring Burt Reynolds.
This hilarious comedy centres on Jefferson Steele. Keen to boost his flagging Hollywood career, he arrives in Stratford to play King Lear. – only to find that instead of the birthplace of the Bard he is engaged to perform in a sleepy Suffolk village Stratford St Andrew and instead of Dame Judi Dench and Kenneth Branagh the cast are just a Bunch of Amateurs trying to save their theatre from developers.
Jefferson’s vanity and monstrous ego are tested to its limits. Acting worlds collide but with surprising results.
