Sarah and Ten – Running the Great Midlands Run!

I am running the 15k Great Midlands Fun Run in Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 2 June with Tennyson my dog, who is pictured below. Every year we run for charity and fundraise as best we can. This year Ten has selected The Cinnamon Trust: www.cinnamon.org.uk as our charity of choice.

The Cinnamon Trust is the only charity whose sole aim is to benefit the lives of the elderly, infirm and terminally ill by ensuring they can retain ownership of their beloved pets. It has over 15,000 volunteers who walk dogs for those who may have to give them up if they did not have this valuable support network. My son, Zak, is a volunteer dog walker and has being walking Temba Saturday mornings for several months. Her owner – Yvonne – who is profoundly deaf and unsteady on her feet – is delighted – and Zak has made a new furry friend.

The Trust offers other services such as emergency homing for pets whose owners are taken into hospital or who pass away. They also assist with volunteers feeding pets at home such as cats and birds etc whilst owners are indisposed. This is a truly fantastic charity; much research has shown people’s health and wellbeing are improved when they can retain ownership of their pets and the Cinnamon Trust does everything it can to make this happen. The Cinnamon Trust has enabled me to set up our own fundraising page: www.everyclick.com/sarahandten4cinnamontrust

If you decide to donate (thank you!) – please leave me a message as I am running in fancy dress and I am giving you 3 choices – dog, cat or bird. The costume with the most money raised I will buy and wear. I will also match the total money raised for the most popular costume and donate it also to the Cinnamon Trust.

Thank you so much for any support you can provide. This is going to be a tough year as Ten is nearly 9 years old and I am more than 6 times that – so spur us on please as best you can!
