Shoppers looking for a way to support their local high street can now do so from the comfort and safety of their own home.
Waverley Borough Council has partnered with Click it Local to create a new virtual high street service, that makes it easy to order everything you need from independent shops and businesses across the borough.
Residents anywhere in the borough can use Click It Local to buy from their favourite local shops and suppliers in one place, then make a single payment and have everything delivered the same day.
Waverley’s retailers have worked very hard to comply with regulations and ensure that customers can visit their stores safely, but for those that are unable to shop in person, or who simply want the convenience of shopping from home, Click It Local provides the perfect solution. From groceries to gifts, flowers to furnishings, tools to toys – and even ice cream – customers can buy everything they need, from as many shops as they like, with one payment and one delivery.
The convenience of a same-day delivery, means that Click It Local isn’t just a great way to buy from your favourite shops, but also gives customers the ability to purchase from a variety of local businesses such as local market traders and even direct from artisan producers and micro-businesses in our area.
Councillor Liz Townsend, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development said: “The pandemic and lockdowns have been devastating for Waverley’s independent businesses, whilst major supermarkets and online retailers have thrived.
“We know that given a choice, people prefer to see the money they spend stay within the local economy, but it’s not always easy. What really excited us about Click It Local, was that by combining simple ordering, payment and same-day delivery, it allows independent local businesses to compete on a level footing with the online giants.
“Customers now have an easy and convenient option to get whatever they need, and have the added confidence that they are helping to support local businesses across the borough.“
Steve Koch, founder of Click It Local, said: “I love shopping locally so wanted to find a way to help small shops offer the same level of speed and convenience that today’s online customers have come to expect. Our aim is to ensure we can all continue to shop local, support independent shops and provide for the local community.”
