Welcome Back to The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh

The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh opened its doors again on Wednesday 14th April, it is once more be able to welcome guests back to the pub and ensure they have a fantastic time.

As well as offering a warm welcome to everyone, the pub is back with a delicious new menu for spring, with an exciting choice of seasonal dishes for lunch and dinner and everything in between. There are also new arrivals on the drinks list including cocktails, gins and soft drinks, with plenty of options to toast being back at the pub.

The entire team at The Richard Onslow has thrown themselves into getting the pub ship-shape for opening after the long months of lockdown has looked forward to having groups of up to six people from any number of households, or groups of two households, outside.

So that the celebrations can continue in style, the team has extended its outside area by taking over the service road in front of the pub, making it into a continental-style pavement space for enjoying a bite to eat or a drink. From Friday through to Sunday you can pull up a chair and sit and watch life in the village go by and then order something tasty to eat from the all-day menu. Umbrellas, heaters, candles and cushions give it a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

The courtyard tucked behind the pub meanwhile is covered to keep it cosy on chillier evenings, with spots to sit and have a well-earned pint of beer after a walk or a refreshing pre-dinner spritz. It has smart round wooden tables and rattan chairs and is decorated with strings of twinkly lights which glow at night.

Fresh from the kitchen will be some mouth-watering new dishes. Enjoy mains of miso-glazed cod with black rice, choy sum, lime, chilli and coriander or Merrifield Duck breast with braised chicory, Delmonico potatoes, green peppercorn and orange sauce. Meat-free options include aubergine, pineapple and coconut Malay curry, hot green chutney and basmati rice. For a great start to the day, you can breakfast on American pancakes with mango, pineapple and coconut cream or chilli fried egg with halloumi Brioche roll, baby spinach and Bloody Mary ketchup.

As well as being able to order food and drink from one of the team, you can also get your glass topped up and have something tasty to eat by ordering on your mobile. Look out for the cards in the pub which explain it all. And if you want it to go, the pub can rustle up takeaway breakfast, coffee, Sunday roasts and more. He says: “We have worked really hard to be ready for the big day when we can finally open our doors again and we literally couldn’t wait! We’ve all missed being able to do what we love the most – looking after our guests and serving them plenty of the good stuff.
